Our Team
Melissa Storm, Ph.D, Senior Research Analyst, joined AIR in June 2004. For The Access Center, she serves as Technical Assistance Liaison for the Northeast and Southeast Regions. Dr. Storm also assists with developing products and presentations for the center.
In addition to The Access Center, Dr. Storm works on policy requests and communication projects under the Department of Education’s Office of Special Programs’ (OSEP) task order contract.
Prior to joining AIR, Dr. Storm was involved in research and evaluation that centered on teachers’ beliefs and professional development. She has been involved with the development of special education curriculum and training of new special education teachers for the last six years. Dr. Storm taught special education for seven years in Louisiana, Colorado, and Virginia public schools.
She earned her doctoral degree in Educational Psychology at the University of Virginia and her Master’s Degree in Special Education at the University of Colorado at Denver, where she worked as a research assistant for the National Institute for Urban School Improvement. She obtained her B.A. in psychology from Bates College.
