Renee Z.
Sherman, Principal Research Analyst, has been with AIR for over
15 years. As a senior staff member of the Access Center, Ms. Sherman provides
support for a variety of training and technical assistance activities.
Ms. Sherman currently directs a national professional development project for the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Vocational and Adult Education to enhance the delivery of instructional services to adult learners. She has many years of experience in adult learning and development, and has developed numerous training materials and publications to provide professional development for adult education instructors and administrators. Â
For over 8 years Ms. Sherman has been working with the Head Start Bureau to assist in revising the training and technical assistance (T/TA) system that provides support to Head Start grantees. She directs a project that is assessing the current T/TA system and has drafted recommendations for improving the system based on the data collected. On another project for the Head Start Bureau, she developed a mentoring guide to assist grantees in developing and implementing their own mentoring programs. Â
Ms. Sherman is also the training director for a U.S. Department of Education, Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools project. In this capacity, she coordinates and provides training and technical assistance to newly hired coordinators in school districts who work with individual schools at the K- 12 level to develop and implement prevention programs. Onsite and online training are provided through a national center. Â
Prior to her work in educational research, Ms. Sherman taught middle and senior high school. Â Â Â Â Â
