Our Team
Monya Ruffin joined AIR in January 2005 as a Research Analyst. Her primary responsibility with the Access Center will focus on providing technical assistance to the Science Team.
Monya is also staffed on the Comprehensive School Reform Quality Center (CSRQ) where she is providing technical assistance on the development materials targeted at implementing comprehensive school reform and improvement strategies.
In addition to assisting with the Access Center and the CSRQ Center, Monya is the Project Director for the Even Start and Single Sex Schools procurements. When needed, she also serves as a science item writer and content reviewer for the AIR assessment team.
Prior to joining AIR, Monya served as Deputy Director for The McKenzie Group. She also has experience as a high school science teacher. During her tenure as a high school science teacher, she team-taught a Biology inclusion class with a special education teacher, for which she and the special education teacher received specialized training in working with students with special needs.
Monya has a Ph.D. with concentrations in the biological sciences, instructional technology, and science education. She also has a B.S. in Biology and a MEd in Secondary Science Education from the University of Georgia.
